Every July, the Goodwood Festival of Speed transforms Chichester into the beating heart of the automotive world.
One of the most iconic parts of the event is the annual Central Feature sculpture, this year designed by renowned artist Gerry Judah and fabricated by the expert team at Littlehampton Welding.
In 2025, the structure celebrated the life and career of legendary designer Gordon Murray, featuring two of his most groundbreaking machines: the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 supercar and the Brabham BT52 Formula 1 car.
The sculpture soared over Goodwood’s famous hill climb route, an engineering feat that blended precision design, structural strength, and breathtaking scale.
Our Role: Abnormal Loads and Flatbed Transport
At Sussex Transport, we were proud to play our part in delivering the structure safely and efficiently to Goodwood.
Working closely with Littlehampton Welding, our team handled the collection and transport of multiple abnormal loads from West Sussex to Chichester.
This included:
- Flatbed transport for key structural components.
- Abnormal load logistics, including permits, escort vehicles, and careful route planning to navigate through West Sussex safely.
- On-site support during the build, ensuring the elements were delivered on time and in the correct order for installation.
