At Sussex Transport, we’re proud to support some of the most critical services in the country – and our recent training with the West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service’s Animal Rescue Unit is a perfect example of that partnership in action.
Led by our Lifting and Training Manager, Andy Packham, this specialist session was designed for the fire service team operating their unique Animal Rescue Vehicle, equipped with an extremely versatile crane. These vehicles are tasked with rescuing large animals from rivers, ditches, fencing, mud, and more, and the training ensures that operators are fully competent, safe, and confident during every rescue callout.
The bespoke session covered all key operational aspects of the lorry loader crane system fitted to the vehicle, focusing on:
