Sussex Roads Wide Load Warning

Sussex Transport are capable of moving wide loads with an escort service – should your transport requirement be a little on the large side! Familiar with providing this service, we can assure our clients of a safe and secure road haulage arrangement no matter how big or small the load is!

On the afternoon of Tuesday 27 September, Sussex Police will be escorting a 16’ wide load from Purfleet in Essex to the Lewes area.  This means a 40mph speed limit will be enforced on the vehicle which is transporting wind turbine ‘parts’ to the wind farm and could cause hold ups on the roads affected.

The loads, which are starting their journey from docks at Purfleet in Essex, will be driven into Sussex down the M23 at about 2pm. They will travel, several hundred yards apart, to the A27 at Patcham, turning left along the A27, going through Cuilfail tunnel on the A26 at Lewes, up the B2192 towards Ringmer and then right into New Road which will take them to the wind farm.

There may be some delays as the first of the three loads manoeuvres on to the A27 at Patcham, and again as it goes through the Cuilfail tunnel, which will have to be briefly closed to other traffic.

The loads consist of the base, pillar and turbine elements of one wind tower.
