Brighton Snail Trail Unveiling

Sponsor Of Snail SpaceWe’re really pleased to finally be able to announce our partnership with this year’s awesome Martlets charity event Snailspace.

Join the snailway with us and support this awesome event in 2018.

“In the Autumn of 2016 the Martlets Hospice teamed up with Wild in Art and Penguin to stage a three-month art trail in Brighton & Hove. This magical trail featured 44 giant Snowdog sculptures inspired by the much loved animated short film, The Snowman™ and The Snowdog.”

“The trail was a massive success. Hundreds of thousands of people tracked the Snowdogs on the trail and approximately 5000 people flocked to say goodbye to the pooches at their Farewell event on Sunday 4th and Monday 5th December.

At the end of the trail, the Snowdogs were auctioned off to raise money for Martlets. The love for the Snowdogs witnessed on the streets carried over to the auction house – in total the 44 Snowdogs sold for £337,900! This money coupled with that raised through merchandise and fundraising events such as the Snowdog Dash has provided a great deal of resources to help Martlets provide life-changing hospice care to people in and around Brighton & Hove.”

Snailspace Brighton & Hove is perfectly placed in a buzzing and artistic city like Brighton, and we are calling you all to get involved with the motto #BeMoreSnail.

Snail on Brighton BeachFifty giant snails will be strategically placed in some iconic locations around the city (and a few unexpected spots) this month. The Snailway is open to the public for eight weeks until each and every snail makes their way to the star studded and amazing closing night complete with auction.  Where these bespoke, artist designed snails will find their forever homes.

Location: Brighton & Hove, UK
Trail: 15 September – 18 November 2018
Charity: Martlets
Event website: snailspacebrighton.co.uk

Imelda Glacklin, CEO Martlets said, “The snail sculpture resonates wonderfully with the work we do at Martlets. Our life-changing hospice care helps people do the things they love with the time they have. In this fast-paced city it’s often hard to remember to slow down and appreciate the things in life that make us smile. The strikingly painted snails across our city will be a constant reminder to take a moment to enjoy the time we have with the people we share our lives with.”

We’ll be helping move the 50 snails onto the streets of Brighton and Hove next weekend. The colourful creatures will be on show for nine weeks, acting as a reminder to #BeMoreSnail.

You can keep an eye out for all of our snail-related antics here on our twitter, Instagram and facebook feeds.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated.  Meanwhile – here is a sneaky little glimpse of our very own Snail.
