This years “Isle of Wight Music Festival” is being held from the 13th to the 16th June and it’s widely considered to be the first major festival in the summer calendar every year.

The award-winning Isle of Wight Festival is steeped in history and famed for hosting some of the most iconic music industry artists. Year on year, 55,000+ stylish, free spirited festivalgoers come together in a beautiful location for one of the most distinctive events of the season.  With the best atmosphere around and a friendly vibe, as soon as you set sail across the Solent it feels like the party has already started!

Over the years we have seen some of the biggest acts in the world, from Bob Dylan (1969) Jimi Hendrix (1970) and this year the festival is presenting Noel Gallagher along with some of the hottest up and coming artists, there are multiple stages and the ever present classic festival atmosphere and its right on the sea – it really doesn’t get any better than that!!

The Festival’s heritage reaches back over an extraordinary 51 years and has some incredibly rich and varied facts, here a just a few…

  • The Festival began with a series of Festivals between 1968 and 1970 and was widely acknowledged as Europe’s equivalent of Woodstock.
  • In 1970 over 5 days the likes of Jimi Hendrix and The Who played to over 600,000 people
  • There were no Festival between 1970 and 2002 whilst John Giddings (music promoter) seized the opportunity to relaunch it, and he still curates every part of the Festival we enjoy today.
  • The Isle of Wight enjoys a micro climate and being just 2 hours from London yet across the water provides a feeling of escapism that other Festivals don’t.
