Recently, one of Sussex Transport’s 18 tonne curtain-side tail-lift trucks was asked to make a delivery from Crawley to the small coastal town of Selsey in West Sussex.
Selsey is well known locally for its history of smuggling, Astrologer Patrick Moore and the iconic lifeboat station which celebrated its 150th year of service this year! Over its 150-year history the lifeboat crew have been presented with 10 awards for gallantry.
Patrick Moore has written over 70 books on astronomy, all of them typed on a Woodstocktypewriter dating back to 1908, which he has always preferred to a computer. He celebrated the record breaking 700th episode of The Sky at Night at his home in Selsey in March this year, presenting a special show with guests Professor Brian Cox and impressionist and amateur astronomer Jon Culshaw.
