September saw the annual ‘Southampton Boat Show’ which is the biggest water based boat show in Europe and is held every September in Mayflower Park.
In 2007, the show boasted a chance for spectators to see HMS Bounty which was featured in the film Pirates of the Caribbean.
Southampton Boat Show has the world’s largest purpose built marina with over 2km of pontoons, which display more than 350 boats over 10 days!
This year the star of the show was HMS Bulwark – measuring a staggering 176 metres long. Visitors to the show were able to climb aboard and explore this huge warship. Launched in 2001, she has spent much of her time off the coast of Southern Iraq.
