Lancing to Leicester Sprinter

With a fleet of HIAB’s, Artic’s, 18t, 7.5t, Moffett’s and vans, family-run haulage business, Sussex Transport, made a delivery of goods to Leicester last week on one of our Sprinter vans.

The Paralympic flame was carried through the streets of Leicester last week during a day of celebrations. Thousands of people saw a parade of drummers, dancers and Paralympic athletes and also enjoyed live music and dance.  Spectators were given a chance to try out Paralympic sports such as fencing, football and gymnastics.

Leicester is the only place in the East Midlands, and one of 33 in the UK, to host a flame celebration as part of the Paralympic Torch Relay.

Today (Wednesday 29th August 2012) marks the start of the 2012 Paralympics with a “spectacular” ceremony tonight starring disabled acrobats, injured soldiers and Prof Stephen Hawking as it celebrates achievement against all odds.

Fifty disabled performers, including non-competing Paralympians and rehabilitating soldiers who have learnt circus skills from scratch, will appear in an acrobatic performance on a 35-metre (114ft) high rig above the stadium floor, supported by over 3,000 volunteers.

The show, which will be attended by the Queen and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will begin with a fly-past by Aerobility, a charity that trains disabled people to become pilots.

The ceremony will begin what is already the most successful Paralympics ever in terms of ticket sales, with a record-breaking 2.2 million sold!

Sussex Transport wishes the Team GB paralympians all the best in the forthcoming games
