Sussex Transport: Olympic Deliveries

Haulage and storage company, Sussex Transport ,boasts a fleet of HIAB, Flatbed, Artic, 18t, 7.5t and sprinter vehicles which transport goods up and down the UK everyday.  The spacious, secure warehouse stores a multitude of goods and the pick and pack service is run efficiently by the experienced team.

Last week, we made a dedicated delivery of goods to London on one of our 18t trucks for a client.

London is the focus of the world at the moment, as the 2012 Olympics are well under way, following a breath taking opening ceremony.

Team GB are doing us proud – and it is suggested that there are up to 500,000 spectators each day in London, watching the events unfold. A large percentage of these people will be eating at the purpose built McDonalds restaurant – the largest McDonalds in the world with 20 till points and 1,500 seats.

The vast two-storey restaurant will serve up to 1,200 customers each hour and sell £3million of fast food during the Games! It will be staffed by 500 of its top performing employees , with 200 staff on shift at any one time.

At 3,000 sq ft, the building, next to the Olympic Stadium, is bigger than the former largest McDonald’s in Moscow – although the Russian restaurant will regain its title on September 9th, when the London branch is bulldozed after the Paralympics closing ceremony.  The London site will be their first sustainable outlet when 75 percent of the building will be recycled or reused.  The Olympic venue is one of four branches in the park, including two open to the public, once for the athletes and officials in the Olympic Village and one at the press centre.  Altogether they will serve 1.55 million meals in 29 days, with Britons accounting for an estimated 85% of customers!

Sussex Transport is proud to have assisted with transporting various loads on behalf of the 2012 Olympics over the year, including building materials for the basketball stadium and equestrian goods to Greenwich (see our previous blogs)
